Fort Campbell Base Guide

1

Fort Campbell is a well-known Army Installation that lies between the Kentucky and Tennessee border. The popular surrounding areas of Hopkinsville, KY and Clarksville, TN are large military towns that are always showing their support for our troops. There are several infantry, airborne and armored units stationed at this base. Fort Campbell is home to the 101st Airborne Division, which is the only air assault division in the world. This base is also known for creating the “Screaming Eagles” in 1958. This is a full time parachute team that performs more than 60 times a year to large audiences in the area. Witnessing one of their performances while stationed at Fort Campbell is a must!

Explore the Nature

Fort Campbell is surrounded by State Parks that offer beautiful scenic views as well as plenty of outdoor activities. With several hiking trails, monuments, and large fishing ponds in the area- there are many ways to enjoy the natural landscape. For a historical experience, visit the Dunbar Cave in Clarksville. This prehistoric site has some of the oldest known cave drawings as well as more than 3 miles of hiking trails.

Breweries and Distilleries

Just a short drive from Fort Campbell- you can visit several distilleries in Kentucky. Kentucky is well known for their bourbon due to the fact that 100% of bourbon is made there. Tennessee is also becoming very popular for craft breweries. Some of our favorites are Gladiator Brewing and King’s Bluff Brewery! If you enjoy attending drink tastings, you can follow the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and visit plenty of local craft breweries!

Family-Friendly Activities

For those of you with kids, water parks are always a great option to use up all that energy! Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center and the Venture River Family Water Park are close by to the base and have several attractions for all ages (Tie Breaker also offers a military discount!). The Venture River Park offers zip lines, tube races, and even a wave pool! The Kentucky Shores Family Fun Center is also just a short drive away for an active day with the kids. They offer go-karts, laser tag and bumper boats! If you’re a sports enthusiast, be sure to see a game to cheer on the two most local teams- the Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals. You could also visit the FedExForum in downtown Memphis, to see the Memphis Grizzlies basketball team play.

As the second largest military base in the U.S., Fort Campbell offers adventures for everyone. The installation also has upgraded facilities such as, updated housing, a new commissary, and extra parks and splash pads! Fort Campbell’s welcoming community will have you feeling “at home” in no time.
