Selling Your Home in the Fall

Selling your home this fall?

Thinking of selling your home this Fall? Housing inventory is reportedly much lower in the fall than the other seasons. This means lower competition and that the buyers you do get will be more serious about their purchase because they are more eager to move quickly. Fall includes several Holidays such as Columbus Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving. This can help sellers due to families trying to be settled in a new home before the holidays! Below you’ll find a list of things we believe you should focus on when getting ready to sell in the Fall!

Hiring a professional photographer as soon as you know you’re going to sell is extremely important. This gives you the opportunity to show your home in the Spring or Summer when your outdoor areas will look nicer. The earlier you can take pictures the better to avoid bare tress and dead plants/flowers.

Priced to Sell Quickly

Once you find a great agent and lender, you’ll want to be ready to move as quickly as possible. This meanshaving an agent find the right price for your home-taking into consideration that prices can vary in different seasons. Most sellers would rather sell in the fall and avoid the chance of bad weather and holiday schedules of traveling near Christmas.

Bring on the Coziness

When the temperature starts to drop, potential buyers will be looking to feel an inviting warmth inside their future home. Adding seasonal accent pieces such as pillows and fall colored blankets, can help maximize the comfiness in the home. Try to avoid holiday decorations since this can hurt the way buyers envision their home since it won’t always look that way. A few simple fall decorations around the house can go a long way without creating clutter.

Lighting

With fall comes less natural lighting and even shorter days. As a seller, it will be very important to focus on adding lighting to the home. This includes adding more lamps or even switching out bulbs to higher wattage. Light natural paint colors can help make a space feel more bright as well. Unscented candles (be sure to get unscented to not deter any buyers!!) can help play up the coziness of a space as well as bring more lighting to an area.
