Thank you to our Military Spouses

May is a time of the year that we honor the service and tremendous sacrifices our military
members have given for this great nation. May is also a time that we recognize the important
contributions, support, and sacrifices that are made by military spouses and their families.

In April of 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation setting Military Spouses Day
on the Friday before Mother’s Day. In his proclamation, President Regan honored all military
spouses by stating “As Volunteers, military spouses have provided exemplary service and
leadership in educational, community, recreational, religious, social and cultural endeavors. And
as parents and homemakers, they preserve the cornerstone of our Nation’s strength-The
American family”.

What President Reagan proclaimed in 1984, I not only see today but I see it growing and getting
larger with each passing moment. If you have ever been around a group of military spouses,
then you will know what I am talking about. Just being in the same room with these dynamic
individuals and you can feel their energy, commitment, and determination to tackle any obstacle
in their path. I don’t know that I have ever seen a group more determined to take on an issue
and make and a difference, not only in their family’s lives, but in their military family’s lives as
well.
