Holiday Activities for Kids

The holidays bring a jam-packed schedule full of so many exciting events, but they can also be stressful. From getting the house ready for the Christmas holiday, cooking up yummy treats and delicious dinners for our families, it can be difficult to find ways to keep the little ones entertained. Luckily for you, we’ve gathered a list of a few fun holiday kid activities that they will absolutely love and that will keep them busy for hours. You may also find some adults wanting to join in on the fun!

1. Make snowman spoons for hot cocoa
Grab a few candy cane spoons that you can find at your local grocery store, dip them in some chocolate and make a cute little snowman out of mini marshmallows! This is a fun and creative way to take drinking hot cocoa to the next level and will warm your kids right up during the cold weather.

 

2. Make popcorn garland

Christmas decorations are one of the most exciting things to look forward to in December, sometimes November! Creating decorations that are good enough to eat is even better! Grab some string, popcorn, cranberries, and a needle. Thread the popcorn and cranberries through the string to make beautiful and yummy garland good enough to eat and hang.

3. Decorate a window display
Spruce up your boring windows with something magical. Add festive stickers and beautiful stars to fill your children’s hearts and home with Christmas spirit! So many young kids can enjoy this one as they feel like they are helping with decorating your home for Christmas and they will feel so proud of their hard work!

4. Drive to see Christmas lights
This is a fun tradition to do with family and one that always makes the holidays so special. Bundle up in your warmest clothes, get in the car with the family and drive around looking at all the beautiful Christmas lights display.

5. Make paper snowflakes
Create special snowflakes out of paper with your little ones or set up an area for all the little kids to do this one. It’s a great activity for little ones to bring winter wonderland inside your home, and it also brings out their creativity.

6. Give your kids a mini tree
This will make them feel so special! Let them decorate their own tree and put it in their room. You can also give them an ornament every year to add to their tree and it will be such a memorable Christmas tree by the time they’re older!

7. Build a gingerbread house
This last one is a fun and inclusive activity that the entire family can do together. Turn your gingerbread home into a gingerbread village! This can be just for fun, or to spruce it up you can turn it into a gingerbread house competition that can become a tradition that will bring so much happiness to the kids and give them something to look forward to every year.
