School has officially begun for our kiddos, and with that comes a lot of big stressors. One specifically is all the shopping we do leading up to the big day – school supplies, new clothes, new shoes and bookbags, and most importantly, healthy food and snacks to pack in our kids’ lunch boxes to have at school. I’ve gathered a few ideas below to help take some of that stress off of what you can buy and pack for your growing children, and if your kids are anything like mine, they are super picky! The key to a good lunch box is having a variety of different foods to choose from, and if they are hungry enough, they’ll try it all and maybe enjoy something they wouldn’t have tried before!
The first lunch box idea is a charcuterie board style. Add in some crackers like Ritz, a few slices of pepperoni or salami and their favorite cheeses. This is the main course of the meal, and then you can add in a sweet treat like gummies, or a mini chocolate muffin. Black Forest sells organic gummies that are the healthier option, but taste just as delicious as the others. This lunch box idea is a great option for picky eaters who enjoy everything separated and have a lot of options to choose from.
The second lunch box idea is a pasta salad, these are great to pack especially if you have a cooler attached to the lunch box to keep the pasta nice and fresh. Pasta salads are full of healthy vegetables and a great source of protein. Banza noodles are full of protein if you’re looking for a healthy noodle option. Pair it with fresh fruit and yogurt as a side option and this lunch will be a win!
The third lunch option is a chopped Italian sub. This is a fun and healthy lunch idea full of flavor as well as a great way to get in some extra protein. Chop up some turkey or ham, pepperoni, cheese, lettuce, and banana peppers and put it on an Italian sub with mayo. Pair it with sun chips or gold fish, strawberries and apples for a refreshing side. This is packed with nutrients and will fill up your kids enough to get through the rest of school!
