DIY Holiday Decor

We are officially in spooky season! With Halloween being less than a month away, it’s time to dust off the decor and get ready for this spooktacular season! Investing in big statement pieces that you can use year-round is always a great idea. Like big skeletons you can put out on the front lawn, or a scary witch. However, it can get expensive buying new decor every year, so how about making our own Halloween decorations at home? Below are a few DIY ideas you can use to make in the comfort of your own home, you might need to grab a few supplies from the store or out in nature, but these decorations won’t disappoint and the whole neighborhood will be talking about your house on Halloween!

  1. Branch Spider Web Wreath

It’s as simple as it sounds! Go out in your backyard or while you are out on a walk or at the park with your kids and grab all of the twigs and sticks you can find. Then you will just need some cardboard, glue, fake spiders and spider webbing. Cut a circle out of the cardboard and then cut a smaller circle inside of it. Glue the sticks all around the wreath and layer as needed, make sure the sticks are different sizes by breaking them into pieces about 5 to 10 inches long. Once the glue is dry you can decorate! Lay spider webs all over the sticks and hang a few spiders with hot glue and you have a spooky door wreath!

  1. Pumpkin Candles

This is an easy decor idea for inside your home that doesn’t just look pretty, but it will also make your home smell amazing! Carve out a few mini pumpkins, and buy some soy wax flakes and wicks to create beautiful pumpkin candles that you can use as a centerpiece on your table or outside on your doorstep.

  1. Paint Leaf Ghosts

This is another fun project to do, especially if you have kids. It’s super easy as well because you just need paint and few leaves from outside! Paint the leaves using white acrylic and once it dries use a sharpie to draw spooky ghost faces. You can hang these outsides of your house for guests to see when they come ring your doorbell, as name tags for seats at dinner, or use them as a tablescape decoration!

  1. Halloween Paper Garland

Grab a beaded garland and thread spooky season-themed shapes like pumpkins, ghosts, and spiders on it to elevate your space. Hang it from your fireplace or on top of your bar cart to really make a statement for Halloween.

  1. Spiders in your hand soap

This is a fun one that will make your guests tell everyone how great of an idea it is! The best part is it is so easy to do. Simply buy a clear hand soap bottle, fill it with a clear soap and add a few plastic spiders to make them stand out. You might hear a few screams coming from the bathroom but don’t worry it’s just the spider filled soap!
