Are you excited for the Halloween season? If you are looking to host a party or gathering this month, you don’t have to go full-out spooky for your party; there are many different ways to celebrate in a way that feels good for you. Here are five Halloween parties to host at your home.
Movie Theme
Have you ever had a movie marathon? Choosing a movie series or favorite movie can be a great way to get your friends to dress up like Hobbits or Wizards, and you can have games based on them, like Quidditch, making wands, or finding the one ring. Having a night where you can dress up like a character in your favorite movie and bond with people who love the same thing can be a memorable night.
Costume Theme
As an adult, you absolutely have full permission to simply host a costume party for no reason other than wanting to. Tell people it’s a potluck and to bring a side of food and wear their favorite costume. All you have to do next is wait for the hijinks to ensue. You’ll have a mummy beside Cher from the 80s, sitting alongside an inflatable dinosaur. Have a few interactive games planned for the night, like Taboo or Guesstures, and you’ll be set for laughter and smiles as a vampire tries to make you guess “The Sun.”
Decade Theme
Get out the hairspray and prepare the disco balls. A decade party is never a bad call. If you want to keep it on the less scary side, having a decade as the basis for the event can make it easy for everyone to participate. Let guests choose their decade and make a game out of guessing which one they’re from, or select a decade you love! Look up recipes and make mocktails or food from that era for a finishing touch.
Activity Themed
Crafting nights are always fun, and you can host a spooky wreath or a Paint and Sip at your house, so people have something to work on as they get to know each other. You can find a local person to lead this, watch a video online, or lead it yourself. Are you worried about costs? Have people pitch in for supplies, and if you want to make it even more interactive, encourage them to dress up. You can pick up cheap prizes for those with the best outfit to put a little on the line and give them a reason to accept the invitation to wear a costume!
Murder Mystery Party
If you want to host a gathering but aren’t sure what to do with your hands, having a murder mystery party can be a great way to get people involved, dressed up, and interacting without you not having to do extensive introductions. Murder mystery parties do rely on people being willing to be a little silly or try something new. Still, whether your guests are 15 or 68, these parties can be fun as everyone tries to figure out who did it. Make it even easier on yourself by buying a murder mystery box with invitations.
