Top 5 Home Decor Trends of 2018

As spring begins, you might be looking to freshen up your home and change up your decor.  We’ve looked at the emerging home decor trends of 2018 and put together the top 5 to give you some inspiration.

1. Stone

Stone accents are huge right now, especially surprising stones like onyx, agate, and alabaster.  These can be used as platters for fancy appetizers or as your countertops.  A similar trend is geode or agate wallpaper.  This more dramatic design might be a nice addition when you’re trying to cover those white walls.

2. Black and White

Huge name designers, from Anthropologie to Joanna Gaines, love this classic combination.  The great news for military families is black and white will basically go with anything, so you can mix and match as styles, and your locations, change. (Plus, you can embrace those white walls).

3. Brass

This aged finish can be used on cabinets, furniture, light fixtures, or as faucets.  Brass is now preferred for its warm and subtle vibe over cold and now-standard stainless steel and will set your home apart.

 

4. Wabi-Sabi

Wabi-Sabi is the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection. In home design that means handmade or hand-painted items like rough linens and pottery.  This gives your home a personal, and organic feel, great for military families who collect items from many locations.

5. Statement Storage

Christina Frederick, the styling director at Anthropologie, says that statement storage will be a growing trend in 2018.  This means we no longer have to settle for bland storage, or stick with the limited storage available in most rentals.  These pieces are creative additions that double as storage to give your home a functional, but stylish appearance.
