What’s this? What’s this?
There’s movies everywhere!
What’s this?
There’s free stuff in the air,
What’s this?
This was yet another successful MilHousing Network Movie Night featuring Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. It seamlessly connected the current Halloween celebrations with upcoming Christmas holidays. It also connected viewers across the globe who had several opportunities to win $1,000 worth of prizes (Thank you Armed Forces Insurance!). Everyone watched in their own homes, on their own time, using whatever streaming device or service they had available.
Per tradition, MilHousing and the movie night sponsors (Caliber Home Loans, Armed Forces Insurance, Wagner Holak Custom Homes) recorded make-along Facebook lives to help viewers spice up the movie night atmosphere in their homes. From pumpkin cookies and spooky beverages to Nightmare Before Halloween-style charcuterie board; you were invited to follow along and make your own. You could win or buy our brand-new movie night T-shirts and sweatshirts. These iconic shirts have some autumn key words on them: “Pumpkin Lattes. Flannel. Leaves. Hayrides. & Movie Nights.” Who could resist?
As the popularity of MilHousing movie nights is exponentially growing, more boxes are sent each time. This time the magical number was 457! (High Five to Caliber Home Loans!) These freebies were filled with everything you may enjoy during a movie night such as popcorn, candy, and our wildly popular movie characters’ masks for children. The popcorn bag was designed to look like the suit of the main movie character Jack Skellington. Jack also inspired the premium boxes that were created by Westhouse. Premium boxes contained stickers, socks, and mug to name a few carefully chosen items.
MilHousing knows how to make everyone in the family excited for the movie. As the week led up to the movie night, we provided Facebook live tutorials on how to make your own Oogie Boogie cocktail or mocktail, pumpkin snickerdoodle cookies, marshmallow pretzel Jack Skellington snack, apple monster bites, and a unique charcuterie board. Lindsey, our charcuterie board specialist, set the bar high with this one! She used fall chips, various fruits, vegetables, and cheeses. The focal point of this charcuterie board however was a picture-perfect rose made of salami. Here are instructions how you can make your own:
Countless prize contests accompanied preparations for the movie night as well as the movie night itself. We asked you to use #mhnmovienights with your posts and share your movie night set up, costumes, answer trivia questions, subscribe to our MilHousing Youtube channel, and follow us on Instagram. Kayla even added a fun contest of guessing the number of shipping labels in a photo that were being sent out with the snack boxes. All contests remained open long enough for participants to make their entry from different time zones. But although this movie night is sadly over, make sure your Facebook alerts are on in our group as we will start dropping hints soon for the next movie night. With that being said, March can’t come soon enough!
