MilHousing Network’s Co-Founder Lindsey Litton recently received the Colorado Institute for Social Impact’s (CI4SI) Social Impact Entrepreneur of the Year Award for her work with MilHousing Network.
Each year CI4SI holds the PRISM Awards in Colorado Springs to recognize and honor social entrepreneurs and businesses that simultaneously grow the local economy while also creating an impact.
At the Prism Awards, CI4SI recognizes three different categories: Social Impact Startup of the Year, Social Entrepreneur of the Year, and Social Impact Business of the Year. The Colorado Springs community nominates the businesses and entrepreneurs each year that inspire them and strive to make a difference in the area.
MilHousing Network was a finalist for 2 out of 3 categories: as a nominee for Social Impact Startup of the Year, and Social Entrepreneur of the Year, which Lindsey ultimately won for her work with MilHousing Network in the local area.
Lindsey accepted her award during the 2nd annual ceremony on March 2. During her acceptance speech she continued to bring awareness to, and advocate for military spouses and their employment struggles, saying,
“Among military spouses 90% of them are unemployed or underemployed. Business owners and employers, if a military spouse walks into your business and hands you their resume, hire them. They are creative, capable, and will work harder than anyone else.”
We are so proud of the work Lindsey has done for MilHousing Network in the Colorado Springs community, and of the MHN team as a whole. MilHousing Network is doing amazon work both in matching military families with military-friendly realtors to find them their new homes, and in creating jobs for military spouses across the country.
