Our next Home Hunter spotlight comes from Rosalind Heaney. Rosalind is a Marine spouse currently living at Camp Pendleton, CA, or as she calls it, Paradise! Rosalind has PCSed 2 times during her 7 years of being a military spouse but PCSed 9 times as an Army Brat. Rosalind says she loves the military lifestyle. She loves moving, meeting new people, and traveling. She and her husband have two children, ages 6 and almost 2.
While being stationed in Southern California, she found a love for fitness. She is always on the run, literally! She competes in half marathons, relays, triathlons, and marathons. She loves being outdoors whether it be hiking, or relaxing on the beach! Being a Home Hunter has allowed her to step out of her comfort zone and work with an amazing team who, she says, truly wants to help others!
I had the opportunity to connect with Rosalind and ask her a few questions about military life, and being a Home Hunter with MilHousing Network.
Meeting people from all different places and cultures.
It has been tough, especially having children and moving every few years. Finding a “work from home job” that didn’t require me to be glued to a phone and/or spend everything I made into childcare for my kids just seemed impossible.
I absolutely love the people I work with!
I’m usually up by 6am, check emails and Facebook for any leads/messages. Coffee is a must soon after. Once my kids are up and fed, I workout for about an hour/hour and a half. Then take my son to school. While he is in half day kindergarten and while my daughter naps, I put in a few hours of work where I search for leads, message people, and/or mentor. After school pick-up, we have outside time in our neighborhood. Afterwards, we do dinner and bedtime routine! Once everyone is asleep, I typically check my messages/potential leads one last time.
PCSing: ORGANIZE! Make sure to take photos and have a detailed inventory of all your items. No matter how crazy things get (because they will), everything will be okay!
Finding work: Network and join Facebook groups! Be patient, I’ve been searching for over a year to find something where I can work from home and still be around for family (something flexible) and I finally found it!
MilHousing Network: It truly is an amazing program! Beyond wanting families to have the most positive experience when buying or selling a house, this program provides jobs for our military spouse community.
That’s all we have today! If you want to connect with Rosalind to see how she can help you find your next home, you can check out her Home Hunter bio. Make sure to check back for more of our Home Hunter Spotlights!
