School is out and the fun is in! With three kids ranging in age from 2 to 7, keeping busy is at the top of my to do list once school is done. We love anything and everything outdoors, new to us, and our favorites. One of my favorite things to do is to sit down with a list full of places, links, and pictures to plan out day trips and things to do! Here are some great ideas to help kick off summer and say goodbye to this school year!
Outdoor Field Day
One of my favorite things to do is to set up a day where the weather is nice, the food is packed, and the games are plenty. Our field day includes frisbees, soccer balls, basketballs, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, & hula hoops. We grab it all, head to our favorite park and spend the day there! We’ll round it out with a stop at our favorite food truck and/or ice cream spot!
Family Game Night
Organize a family game night with board games, card games, or video games. Make some snacks and enjoy some quality time together, even if it gets a little competitive!
Summer Bucket List
This is an activity in and of itself! You can find magazines full of ideas & have each member of your family create their own bucket list! I’ll leave it up to you if you want to include glitter! Head on over to your Parks App & find parks that have a great hike, a waterfall, and camping & you’re golden for the summer!
Backyard Campout
Grab those blankets, pillows, lamps, and snacks! It’s time for a night out under the stars! This is on our to do list THIS year and the excitement is palpable. We’ll be right on our deck with smores galore & when the sun is down and the stars are out – we’ll grab our Skyview Lite App and spend the night looking for stars, constellations, AND the International Space Station! Want to see what the world looks like from all the way out there? Download the NASA App and prepare to be amazed!
Backyard Movie Night
If you’re like me and not keen on sleeping outside just yet – get a screen (or a blanket), get an outdoor projector and all of the snacks for a movie outdoors!
Water Balloon Fight
Last year when school was out we celebrated by having a full on water balloon fight with all of our neighbors and their kids. Last year was a huge transition and what a way to celebrate! The prep work was simple – we filled up hundreds of balloons and placed them all throughout, added a welcome home committee, and let the games begin! We rounded it out with some pizza and had a visit from a local ice cream truck to finish the night!
How do you celebrate the end of the school year! Let us know if you give any of these a try! We’d love to see your families having fun and celebrating another successful year!
