This week, Lindsey sits down with Verenice Castillo, fellow military spouse and Founder and President of the Military Spouse Advocacy Network. As Verenice began her journey as a military spouse, she faced a number of challenges from finding resources to getting support to find career and education guidance.
Coming to the United States at the age of 16, Verenice was able to overcome challenges of migrating to the United States, and is now paying it forward by providing support to military spouses through the Military Spouse Advocacy Network. Verenice saw the need for a resource for new military spouses who did not know where to begin in their new military journey. Verenice’s program provides mentors to spouses who guide them on understanding all of the programs available to them, at over 40 military bases nationwide. She saw the multitude of programs for transitioning from military to civilian life, but not civilian life to military life, and wanted to fill that need.
