We all know we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but sometimes we can’t help it. If you’re anything like me, you peruse the home selling sites and any listing that comes up on Facebook. FIrst impressions for buyers are key and while we don’t need it to look brand new, a little bit goes a long way! So here are a few quick, easy and some budget friendly ways to add curb appeal to your home.
Touch Up Your Door
A fresh paint job, or even a new door, can make a big impact on the overall look of your home! While you’re at it, make sure your hardware is in good shape too! This is a great time to update those as well!
Pro Tip: If you live in a community with a Homeowners Association don’t forget to check and see what your ByLaws state! P.S. Don’t forget the shutters!
Update the Landscaping and/or Front Porch
Trimming the hedges, adding flowers or potted plants, upgrading your mulch and adding some fixtures are perfect ideas to create a welcoming entrance into the home! Change out that door mat and add some color! You can even update your house number(s) to add a clean touch.
Pro Tip: Stick to a classic door mat!
Illuminate!
Curb appeal isn’t only during the daytime – adding outdoor lights and highlighting the pathway is a quick way to add an inviting, welcoming look to visitors and potential homebuyers.
Pro Tip: There are different types of lights out there, you can add solar spots add lighting to trees, the porch and the walkway! And they’re cost effective!
Time to Power Wash!
Over time our homes accumulate dirt and grime on their exterior, getting rid of this film improves the overall look and cleanliness of the home. (And if you’re anything like me, watching the power washing process is incredibly satisfying.)
Pro Tip: You can buy a power washer OR you can rent one from your local Lowe’s or Home Depot! Check out Amazon, too!
What time of year is it?
Whether you’re selling your home during the dead of winter or in the scorching heat, adding just enough decor is perfect for highlighting how amazing the house will look during the holiday(s) or time of year! Adding pumpkins or potted mums during the Fall adds to the home-like feel of a home in the same way new flowers will highlight your home during those April and May days!
And because we love to make sure you have everything in your corner! Don’t forget to do the following either!
