Black Friday (November 25) is no longer a one-day event. This means that holiday shoppers don’t have to wait until last minute to complete their shopping lists. The latest trend among retailers is that the deals start in late October and run through the whole month of November. The word is that if you see something at a reduced price close to Thanksgiving, go ahead and buy it because the discount is not expected to get better. And if it does, many stores will price-match with a proof of receipt.
While it is hard to predict what products will be on sale for Black Friday 2022, it is possible to use previous years as indicators. Some of the products that typically go on sale before Christmas are:
But because of inflation, everything costs more. And that may cause this year’s Black Friday deals to not be as significant as we hoped. Retailers advise to join their memberships and loyalty programs to ensure access to exclusive offers. For instance, Amazon will likely do another members-only Prime Early Access Sale as they have already done in October, and Best Buy urges customers to sign up for their rewards account on their website where they will feature special discounts. A chain of beauty stores, Ulta Beauty, encourages to sign up for their Ultamate Rewards to collect points towards their beauty product purchases.
Target has already been tempting its customers into spending with their Deal Days, as they offer 50% off select home goods, toys, and other products. Black Friday Deals for Days will be a thing at Walmart starting online on November 7 when members will have access to sales seven hours earlier than others. Up to 30% off sale prices will be offered to Kohl’s card holders, and their shipping is always free if you spend over $35. Information about Kohl’s other promotions is available on their website. And lastly, don’t forget that a good book makes for a great gift. Barnes and Noble has multiple deals on their website right now including getting a 50% off a second book from a selected list of books for all ages.
Avoiding crowds has never been easier—vast majority of Black Friday deals have been and will continue being available online through Cyber Monday, which is this year on November 28. And yet another opportunity to save money while shopping will be on December 14, on Free Shipping Day. All in all, this year’s holiday shopping allows for plenty of opportunities to catch discounted products and lots of opportunities to avoid long lines and crowds.
Since we don’t know what products specifically will be on sale on Black Friday just yet, one thing you can do is to start thinking about what products you will be interested in buying this year and then monitoring their prices online. The next step would be to start setting some money aside. Some products that you can anticipate being on sale might be certain Apple products, air fryers, handheld massage guns, and Roomba robot vacuums.
