Aligned Mortgage – Who We Are. Our Story.

The Aligned Mortgage story is an important one, not just for the service members and veterans we
serve, but for the founders and all the employees graced with a great place to work. Our founders, Tony
Dias and Chris Cano, veterans themselves, were tired of the way veterans were being served in the
mortgage industry. The Lenders Handbook – VA Pamphlet 26-7 establishes requirements for lenders
regarding the VA Home Loan Benefit. However, lenders are putting additional requirements, called
“overlays”, into the equation more often making home ownership difficult for veterans to qualify. Tony
and Chris decided it was time to create a mortgage company built by veterans, focusing on veterans…….
and that’s how Aligned Mortgage was born!!!

The heart of Aligned Mortgage is education; Our mission is to assist every veteran in owning a piece of
the land they helped defend through education of the VA Home Loan Benefit. It is estimated that only
15% of all eligible utilize the VA Home Loan Benefit making this one of the most severely underutilized
benefit for Veterans. A lot of that has to do with bad information, or “Myths” about the VA Home Loan
Benefit. Service members and Veterans are not educated on how this benefit works, how powerful BAH
and home ownership can be for their financial future, or what to look out for when working with lenders.
Aligned Mortgage created “The Truth About Your VA Home Loan Benefit” presentation that is offered
once a month, giving service members/Veterans the facts of this benefit straight from the VA Guidelines
and also covers what to expect when working with lenders during the home buying process.
