Last month we looked at a day in the life of an insurance agent at Armed Forces Insurance (AFI). We got a unique glimpse into how busy and hectic a day can be for an agent at AFI. This month I wanted to expand upon what we found out last month and find out what a success story at AFI truly looks like.
I called over to AFI and I was transferred over to Brian who is a licensed agent at AFI in their sales department. When I asked him the question of an example of a success story he has recently had, Brian immediately started sharing a story about a family he helped a few months back. Not only was it a military family. You could tell instantly he was extremely proud of what transpired with the client and how he was able to take care of his client’s needs.
A couple of months ago, Brian had been trying to get a hold of a military family who had made an online request for home insurance as they were purchasing a new home. Brian tried several times but had not been successful at reaching the family and had closed their file. A month or so later an email came in from this client around 6:30 pm, again asking for help with insurance for their new purchase. This time, the email seemed more urgent. It was not spelled out in the email but there was something about the way it was written that made it seem like a response could not wait. Even though Brian’s workday had ended, he had this feeling in his stomach that he should not delay in responding to the email. He sensed that this family had an immediate need. He turned on his computer at home and remoted into his workstation and gave the client a call. Sure enough, his hunch was correct, and the situation was extremely time sensitive.
It turns out she was reaching out because an insurance policy through another company had fallen through. She was supposed to close on her home in 2 days and she needed a replacement policy ASAP, otherwise the home closing would be delayed. To make matters worse, she was in the car already driving from VA to TX and was expecting to be able to move into her new home over the weekend. Any delay would cause issues for her and her family as they would have to live in a hotel until they could reschedule the closing.
Brian understood the time sensitivity of the situation and got to work grabbing as much information as he could. He then went to work quoting her new home. After a few minutes, Brian was able to find a policy for her with Armed Forces Insurance that would satisfy the mortgage company requirements. After going over the coverages, she accepted the policy, and Brian issued out the coverage and sent all necessary documents over to the lender. The information was received in time, and she was able to close on the home in time and not have to spend any extra nights in a hotel room.
Brian could have waited to respond to that email in the morning. Often, emails received that late in the day would not get worked until the morning as most company’s underwriters and others staff have gone home for the day. Luckily, Brian listed to his instincts, reached out to the family and was able to come through for them in a huge way.
I hope you have found this success story interesting and valuable.
